"History to High School"
Many of you may have heard of E.D. White High school. Where did this up-and-coming school get its name? My alma mater surely has a lot of history behind it!
Built in 1825, the E.D. White Historic Site is located along LA-Highway 1. The beautiful cypress Creole-style cottage is known by its famous resident: Edward Douglas White and his family.
So what makes this family so special? Two of Louisiana's most powerful political figures lived in this home. E.D. White was the governor of Louisiana from 1835-1839 and his son, Edward Douglass White, served as the Supreme Court Chief Justice from 1910-1921. Now vacant, this home is used as a tourist attraction as well as the center for numerous events in the area.
